Kroos begins injury recovery
Recovery from a foot injury has started for Toni Kroos, who has put a picture on his Twitter page that shows himself in a hospital with his foot strapped.
This follows on from when the German fractured his fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot during a LaLiga fixture against Leganes.
Today, he has been moved to Valdebebas to start his treatment process but the midfielder could face up to seven weeks out, a diagnoses that could see Kroos back in a Madrid shirt as late as after the new year.
Recovery has started today!
Zinedine Zidane had another midfield scare as Mateo Kovacic was sent back to Madrid early from international duty, but it has since transpired that the Croatian should beat the race to be fit in time for the Madrid derby.
Luka Modric has also been sent home early after being subbed on for Croatia in Kovacic's place against Iceland for the World Cup qualifier; it was mutually agreed that the midfielder should rest ahead of the Los Rojiblancos fixture, following his recent recovery from a knee injury, rather than risking him against Northern Ireland in a friendly.
