Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Spurs in a result that ensures
things remain incredibly tight at the top end of the Premier League. A
Kevin Wimmer own goal gave the Gunners a half-time lead but a Harry Kane
penalty levelled things up shortly after the break. It was a fair
result, with the visitors more than matching Arsenal for long periods of
the game.
Positives
Arsenal showed impressive maturity to weather the storm against a Spurs game who started superbly. Tottenham were physical and focused, but Arsenal showed composure to ride it out and grow into the game.
Arsene Wenger will also be pleased at how his side coped with the fiery atmosphere. Although there were a few flash points, Arsenal generally struck a good balance between being impassioned and sensible.
Negatives
Arsenal will feel that they dropped two points after a needless error gave Tottenham their goal. Laurent Koscielny hung his leg out to trip Moussa Dembele when there didn't appear to be any imminent danger.
They'll also reflect on a few first-half chances they could have been more clinical with. Arsenal's resounding victory over Chelsea earlier this season was reliant on being highly efficient in front of goal. They simply couldn't match that cold-blooded killer instinct against Tottenham.
Manager rating out of 10
7 -- Wenger's decision to leave Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud on the bench was justified by the performances of Granit Xhaka and Alexis Sanchez. The one criticism you might level at the manager was that his side did not appear to be particularly focused at the start of the second half, when a more conservative attitude might have been advisable.
